One of the most breathtaking locations in the Philippines is Aliwagwag Falls, which will leave you in awe of its unearthly beauty.

One of the biggest tourist attractions in the province is Aliwagwag Falls, which is well-known for its boulders that resemble staircases.

At 1,110 feet, this magnificent 84-tiered waterfall with more than 130 cascades is the highest in the Philippines.

Folklore claims that the Mandaya Tribe of Cateel received Aliwagwag Falls as a gift from the gods, according to certain locals.

It is their source of life and their fountain of youth.

There were no roads or trails in the area prior to development. Riding a boat through the Cateel River was the only way to get there.

Typhoon Pablo severely damaged Cateel in 2012, and Aliwagwag Falls was also affected. Nearly no one could recognize the trees that surrounded the river.

One of Manila's first defenses, Fort Santiago, was constructed by the Spanish in 1571 on the site of Rajah Soliman's palisaded fortress made of logs and earth on the Maynila native village.

The colonizers understood the strategic importance of the land tongue where the Pasig River entered Manila Bay.

The fort was demolished in 1574 during the Chinese attack headed by Limahong.

The stone fort was constructed between 1589 and 1592, and after being destroyed by the earthquake of 1645, it was expanded and repaired. Spanish, British, American and Japanese occupation troops used the fort as their headquarters as a jail for men, women, children and soldiers.

The fort was used by the United States after it was destroyed in 1945 during the Battle of Manila.

Up until 1946, when it was given to the Philippine government, the Transportation Corps used it as a depot. Fort Santiago was designated a Shrine of Freedom in 1950, and repair work started that year.

It now serves as a memorial to the WWII casualties and the Filipino people's sacrifices in the fight for freedom.

Fort Santiago in Manila's Intramuros neighborhood is one of the most renowned and significant historical sites in the Philippines.

Before being sentenced to death, Dr. Jose Rizal was imprisoned there. In this popular tourist destination in Intramuros during the Spanish Colonial Era and World War II, hundreds of people perished.

“We had our first visit and we really enjoyed it. It is the best place to visit if you are a history buff. It offers historical insights and you can see so many really cool things. The most destructive eruption of the Mayon Volcano in recorded history is what led to the Cagsawa Ruins.

The tragedy claimed thousands of lives, including those who sought safety in this stone church during the eruption but were swallowed up by the rapidly flowing volcanic material.

All that is left of the town following that 1814 eruption is this belfry.

Unlike other tourist destinations, Cagsawa Ruins Park was formed out of a catastrophe hundreds of years ago.

The History of Cagsawa Ruins begins long back in 1724 when it was established by Franciscan friars. But the Mayon Volcano unleashed its most catastrophic eruption to date on February 1st, 1814.

Over 1,200 people, including those who sought safety at the Cagsawa Church, were buried alongside Cagsawa town.

According to Phivolcs, Mayon erupted with "plinian, pyroclastic flows," "volcanic lightning, and lahar."

Thus, the famous bell tower of the Cagsawa Church is all that remains.

The former altar of the Cagsawa Church has been replaced by a wooden cross, which connects the remains.

It is also known as the Church of Nuestra Senora de la Porteria.

This Albay tourism destination has witnessed several historic events including the 1814 Mayon eruption and World War II.

You can trace the history of "the Gate '' back to the 18th century, when a Franciscan lay brother named Fray Luis de San Jose worked as a porter and gardener at a monastery in Avila, Spain.

I know you're wondering why "the Gate'' was given that name. He is claimed to have been saved from drowning by the Virgin Mary.

He drew a picture of the Holy Mother and put it on display in the convent's lobby. Since then, many have revered this picture.

The painting is titled Nuestra Senora de la Porteria and depicts the "Spanish porteria," the convent's receiving area.

The Franciscan friars chose to name the Daraga Church after this representation when it was being built.

Here’s what customers have to say about Daraga Church

Hinatuan Enchanted River is a miraculously clean, blue, salty river hidden in the jungle that flawlessly flows into the Pacific Ocean.

It is arguably the most gorgeous tourist destination in Mindanao and one of the most attractive locations to visit in the Philippines.

A gorgeous river that seems to emerge from the ground and flow out to sea is found on the island of Mindanao, tucked away in the Philippine bush.

This little river section, also known as the Hinatuan Sacred River, is located on the eastern shore of the southernmost island in the Philippines.

At Barangay Talisay, Hinatuan, Surigao del Sur, a river that flows 648 meters between the Philippine Sea and the Pacific Ocean is so remarkably clean that its sapphire blue hues appear to be actual diamonds sparkling in the sunlight.

Here’s what customers have to say about Hinatuan Enchanted River

“I must say that the once magical river I visited 6 years ago is still or more magical. It was very clean and well maintained. You can see the fishes and by just looking at it, the clear blue water is very deep. First thing to do is pay an entrance fee of 100 pesos per person. Afterwards you can park the car uphill. Go down the stairs and a food park or stalls would welcome you with their amazing choices of seafood. You would walk like 5 to 10 mins to the river. But before that, take a picture with the enchanted woman head statue. It is still ongoing construction and it is still not fully painted. You can go inside and show the ticket. You have an option to rent a life jacket so that you would be able to swim in the swimming area. The swimming area improved and it got bigger. Enchanted River is really living up to its name.”- Karl Gamolo
