Sori Yanagi Was An Influential Japanese Designer And Architect Born In Tokyo In 1915. His Father, Soetsu Yanagi, Was The Founder Of The Nihon Mingeikan, The Folk Crafts Museum Of Japan, And Promoted The Concept Of Mingei (Japanese Folk Art). Sori Studied Both Art And Architecture At The Tokyo Art School In 1934.
Sori Was Inspired By The Work Of Le Corbusier And Charlotte Perriand And Devoted Himself To The World Of Design And Objects Instead Of Art And Architecture. After World War Ii, He Designed Many Items, Such As Furniture, Three-Wheeled Vehicle, Olympic Cauldron, Pedestrian Overpass, And The Iconic Butterfly Chair Of 1954. His Porcelain And Silverware Series Also Gained Fame.
The Nihon Yoshokki Co Ltd Was Founded In 1955 In Tsubame City, Niigata Prefecture, Japan. It Is The Main Manufacturer Of Sori Yanagi-Designed Kitchenware And Tableware.
